Clean & Clear: The Constant Reminder of Acne

April 26, 2010

It’s surprising how every website you go to now days theirs thousands of advertisements directly for teens. You go to MySpace of Facebook or any other social networking site and there are all these ads. The people who put those ads on these websites know that they will be effective since millions of teens go daily on them. Clean & Clear had this advertisement on the top of MySpace one day and I noticed how I was finding myself saying I need some wash for my face. Almost every teen is self-conscious about their image, these marketing specialist know this and are aiming the add to these age group.

Also they use key words, like “new” instantly you are led to believe is a new product to help prevent or treat the acne. Especially if the ad also says to click on it for more information, you kinda of think you are going to be given an offer so you cant help but to click on it. The number 1 problem with teens is acne and there “image” so you can never go wrong with putting advertisements like those in the number 1 place teens go online and thats social networking sites.

MLB 10 The Show ad

March 8, 2010

MLB 10 The Show is a baseball simulation game made by sony to be played exclusively only on the playstation 3. Like all sport games, The Show is just part of another installment for this years baseball season. Just like football and basketball, the other two big sport games that are offered, MLB 10 is to be released about a month before the “real” season begins.

The ads for this game have been circulating the internet and billboards for some time before the game is actually released. The cover of the game features Joe Mauer, the all-star catcher from the Minnesota Twins and current AL MVP. Products like MLB 10 usually tend to select players who excel at their sports to represent their product, its gives their game some star quality.

MLB 10′s main competition the last few years has been 2k sports, this years game from 2k sports is labeled MLB 2k10 and Its obvious who Sony and 2k sports is targeting to sell their games to. The casual baseball fan might have some trouble selecting one from the other and picking favorites is always subjective but MLB 10 is advertising its product by quoting espn.com which says the game, “…captures the sport of baseball better than any other…”

Im a pc. Im a mac commercials.

This is an example of a big corporation vs the so called underdog. You can tell by the way the Bill Gates impersonator is dressed, who is the big corporation. Apple, in these commercials plays the part of a cool casual average young guy, while Microsoft is almost the direct opposite. Apple is playing up its strengths of having the more superior and stable software, which also happens to be the character qualities of the cool guy, unlike Microsoft’s guy who always looks to be unsure of himself while trying to impress the obviously more hip guy. Its obvious that Apple is trying to attract the younger generation with these ads, telling them that if they want a trouble-free experience with their computer Apple should be the way to go.
